Review of iRobot Roomba and iRobot Scooba
I grew up in Saskatchewan. For those of you who may wonder where that is, it’s in the middle of Canada and currently covered in a snowbank. In April. Or maybe that was last week. My mom isn’t too fast with the email.
While living in Saskatchewan, I watched a lot of TV. In fact, I’d walk the 5 minutes home at lunch from my elementary school and eat at home while watching a Flintstones/Jetsons double shot, then scoot back to school. What can I say? It was a different time, a different planet.
What influence did these lunch time marathons have on a young girl? For one, I can watch the first 60 seconds of any Flintstones episode and tell you exactly what will go on for the rest of the show. My favorite was when Anne Margaret was Pebble’s nanny. I mean, that could happen right?
But if I have to say what really stuck with me for my entire life was The Jetsons. With their automatic food dispensers, their flying cars, and Elroy’s much coveted jetpack – These are the things that stick with you when you grow up to be a gadget geek.
And that’s why, when the iRobot Roomba and the iRobot Scooba landed on my door step a month ago, I felt like I had come full circle. Here was this amazing little round robot, taken straight out of a page of Jetson’s lore, and it was doing the one thing that could seriously light my homemaker’s world on fire – Clean my carpets. And then when the Scooba came out and mopped? Mind. Blown.
It was a happy day in my house, let me tell you.
